Mark & Clare Miscellany 2017

To the tune of the Major-General's Song

The changes to our lives this year were truly major, pivotal!
A baby boy of eight pound five without a problem medical,
Ten days then Clare's infection sent us back into the hospital,
We hope to God, never again! Of that we're categorical.
John-Luke is now acquainted too with travel international;
To Marseilles beach and Ruhr valley, four trips through the Channel Tunnel.
About his learning and progress we're teeming with a lot o' news,
Regretfully he cannot even say the word "hypotenuse"!

He's very good with stacking cups and turning pages of a book,
Fruit is much loved - he greedily scoffs most anything that we cook.
He will not crawl, but babbles on and quickly learned to sit on floors,
His strengths are pushing trolleys, holding on and having fun with doors.
In other news we bought a car, a white electric Nissan Leaf;
Mark's work colleagues raced buggies, while Clare gave some clay pigeons grief;
And though too many months have passed since they were bared with a scraper
Finally our living room walls are covered with some wallpaper.

For now Clare's back to work: we're still both titled Software Engineer;
So very many thanks are owed to all who helped us through the year,
Sometimes our life before John-Luke seems distant even mythical.
The changes to our lives this year were truly major, pivotal!
