Mark's Message 2006
University. Well I have finally made it and am coping somehow. After being rejected by Cambridge, I accepted an offer to study Maths and Physics at the University of Warwick (in Coventry, don’t ask me why!). 4 A’s in my A- Levels (Maths, F. Maths, Physics and Computing) comfortably satisfied the conditions and so here I am, enjoying the independence of Higher Education.
My accommodation is the cheapest available, so I was prepared for the worst; but it is surprisingly comfortable. The room is quite small (no cat-swinging allowed) and the corridors are barely wide enough for two people, but I am directly opposite the bathroom and a short distance from the kitchen, which is shared between approx 10 people. (Last year it was about 24 per kitchen but they have added a kitchen on each floor. :-) Much time is spent playing cards and watching films in the kitchen with the people from my corridor and admittedly there have been a few late nights and/or early mornings to finish (or even start) work due in later in the day. But hey, I’m a student!
The course is good fun, despite the weekly assignments (marked for credit), and frequent exams. Fortunately deadlines are quite short, so work does not pile up; I hate to think what would happen otherwise.
